The Human Advantage

Who this course is for
Educators who are worried that generative AI is quietly displacing creative thinking, originality and student effort, and who want something more useful than a ban.
What you will be able to do
- Explain why creativity matters more in an AI-enabled world, not less
- Tell the difference between AI-generated output and human creative thinking
- Design learning tasks that prioritise process, originality and student voice
- Redesign assessment so it values thinking, iteration and reflection
What is covered
Two modules, plus an introduction and a portfolio setup. Module one looks at the AI moment in education: why generative AI feels disruptive, the common fears about cheating and lost skills, and why banning tools does not address the deeper learning problem. Module two turns to creativity itself, including what creativity actually is beyond talent or art, and the Four C model.
What is included
- 13 lessons, around 80 minutes of video
- A guided digital portfolio setup you build as you go
- An optional generative AI activity to try the ideas out
About the presenter
This course is presented by Dr Tim Kitchen, the first in a series from collaborators around the world. It also examines why AI cannot replace the role of a teacher, because teaching is at its core a profoundly human profession.
